THE BLOOD GROUP DIET

Blood type diet is the culmination of four decades of work conducted by Dr. Peter D’Adamo and his father, Dr. James D’Adamo. The principles of the blood type diet, on the theory that people with different blood types respond differently to specific foods. The concept is also based on evolutionary history and the observation that different blood types emerged as the environmental conditions and eating styles of our ancestors charged. [Our genetics ancestries are important determinants of what we should eat.
Between The 50,000 B.C.E and 25,000 B.C.E all humans shared the same blood type: Type O. These early humans were skilled hunters and thrived on a meat based diet. Type ‘A’ blood type emerged between 25,000 B.C.E and 15,000 B.C.E as a necessary adapter to a more agrarian life style. Climatic changes in the western Himalayan Mountain led to the appearance of type ‘B’, and the blending of type A and type B blood type in modern civilization resulted in the appearance of the type A B blood type. Though the blood type is just one of many different blood typing methods and to date, more than thirty unique markers have bean identified on the surface of red blood
cell.
We at African blood group foundation believe that the physiological reason why people should eat according to their blood type is as it relates to Lectins ,which protein like substances found in many commonly eaten foods.
Lectins, also known as phyto–hemagglutins, were first identified in 1888, at which time it was discovered that lectins interacts with sugar-containing molecules on the surface of cells. This discovery allowed certain lectins to be used in blood type, since blood typing is determined by the presence or absence of specific sugar-protein residue on the surface of red blood cells.
Although most of the lectins found in food are destroyed by cooking or digestive enzymes and intestinal bacterias, many people have low digestive enzymes and low intestinal florals so lectins usually have a field day in their bodies.
Dr. D’ Adamo believes that as many as 5% of the lectins we take in through our diet are absorbed into our bloodstreams, and some of these are incompatible with our blood type. Many food lectins look very similar to antigens, and that determines one of the four blood type. As a result when lectins that looks similar, for example, to the type ‘O’ antigen is eaten by a person with type ‘A’, type ‘B’, or type ‘AB’ blood, the immune system recognizes that lectin as a foreign invader. African Blood Group Diet (ABGD) implicates this lectin-caused immune response as the origin of many common health complaints and believes that if you want to prevent health problems. It’s important to eat foods that are compatible wilt your blood type. Since type ‘O’ was the blood type of the earliest humans Dr. D’adamo emphasizes the importance of animal flesh and vegetables for people with this blood type. If you are type ‘0’, you are encouraged to eat beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, and seafood. In addition beans [black or Adzuki], pinto beans, kale, collard greens and fruits are considered beneficial. Those with type ‘O’ blood must strictly avoid eggs and dairy foods, breads and pastas made from wheat, cabbage-family vegetables and corn. Individuals with type ‘A’ blood are believed to thrive on a plant based diet and should consume large amounts of raw or steamed vegetable, lentils, soybeans and soy-products, pinto beans, black beans and whole grains, berries and plums are also beneficial. Occasional consumption of poultry and fermented dairy products is also well tolerated. Individuals wilt type ‘A’ blood should eliminate all meat products, whole fat dairy products, peppers, tomatoes and tropical and citrus fruit. The diet for individuals wilt type ‘B’ blood is more varied than the other blood type diets. If you have type ‘B’ blood you are encourage to eat seafood [not crustatians], beef, lamb, and dairy products, Oats and millet, green vegetables, and all fruits are beneficial to the ‘B’ type, is encouraged to avoid Chicken, bacon, ham, corn, tomatoes and shellfish entirely, in addition it is recommended that individuals with type ‘B’ blood limit their consumptn of beef, wheat, and rye. Individuals with type ‘AB’ bloods are encouraged to eat, lamb, turkey, cultured dairy products such as yogurt, and sour creams, eggs, rice tofu, plums and cherries, people with type ‘AB’ blood must strictly avoid all smoked or cured meats and limit their consumption of beef to offal’s. Also type ‘AB’ should avoid wheat, corn, tropical fruits, oranges and banana.
The link between dietary lectins and many diseases are enormous and very evident, many people have profoundly benefited from using the blood type diet to heal a lot of diseases. Elimination or avoidance of food that causes allergy to a person can result in tremendous relief from conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, eczema, psoriasis, asthma, food cravings, waist pain, hormonal imbalance, fatigue, stroke sequel, arthritis, diabetes, hypertension, hepatitis, weak erection, poor sexual drive, low sex stamina, prostate, enlargement, male infertility, female infertility, stress and mental fatigue, forgetfulness, low energy, kidney challenges, emphysema, aging, cardopathy, hematuria, insomnia, eye problem, neurodermititis, UTI, bronchitis, poor immunity, arteriosclerosis, dysfunctions of the digestive system, vitamin and minerals imbalance, ulcer, gastritis, inflammation and so many others.
